TriSetters is built on dedication, partnership, and a deep love for the field-bred English Setter. What began with one special puppy has grown into a family/friend-focused program committed to producing healthy, talented dogs who thrive both in the home and in the field. 

 In the summer of 2020, following the loss of her beloved 15-year-old spaniel/setter mix, Karen began searching for a new companion—and found herself stepping into a world she never expected: field-bred English Setters.

With the guidance of Lynette VandeVenter of First Harmony Farms in Tiskilwa, Illinois, Karen found her perfect match: a beautiful, tri-colored, 8-week-old puppy named Zing, now registered as FHF Miss Demeanor and lovingly known as “Demi.” Demi quickly became more than a cherished companion—she became the heart of what would later grow into TriSetters.

Under Lynette’s supervision, and after Demi turned two, completed health testing, and proved she would be an exceptional breeding candidate, she was bred to Murphy’s Mohawk Ryder, producing five outstanding puppies. Each puppy carried the traits that make the field English Setter so special: drive, trainability, heart, and joyful spirit.

Following Demi’s first litter, the original co-ownership agreement with First Harmony Farms concluded. But the passion Karen developed—and Lynette’s continued support and shared commitment to preserving and improving this exceptional line—only grew stronger, leading to the official creation of TriSetters LLC.

As TriSetters grew, it became more than a breeding program—it became a family. Lauren, who began working with Demi in the agility ring at just eight years old, became part of the journey early on and now plays a vital role in every litter as a TriSetters Puppy Raiser, helping shape each puppy’s confidence, curiosity, and early development from day one.

Today, Karen, Lynette, and Lauren remain committed to raising and producing field-bred English Setters who are as capable in the field as they are devoted in the home—prioritizing health, temperament, structure, and performance ability with every carefully planned breeding decision.

Lynette VandeVenter, DVM, of First Harmony Farms in Tiskilwa, Illinois, has been a guiding part of the TriSetters story from the very beginning. Her experience, dedication, and deep understanding of the field-bred English Setter helped shape the foundation of TriSetters long before it became official.

With both a breeder’s perspective and veterinary expertise, Lynette has helped Karen not only find her once-in-a-lifetime foundation girl, Demi, but also develop a thoughtful approach to breeding that prioritizes the qualities that matter most: health, temperament, structure, athletic ability, and true field purpose.

Today, as a co-founder of TriSetters LLC, Lynette remains an important part of the program, offering insight and guidance to ensure each pairing is carefully planned with the long-term goal of producing versatile Setters who thrive both in the home and in the field.

Lauren has been part of the TriSetters journey long before TriSetters was even an idea. From the very beginning, she formed a special bond with Demi and developed a passion for learning every aspect of her handling, care, and training.

Lauren began as a Junior Handler under Karen’s mentorship at just eight years old, working alongside Demi in the agility ring. By the time she was ten, the pack—and the adventure—grew even bigger with the addition of Artemis (“Arte”) and her own Sawyer (both daughters of Demi from her first litter). Since then, Lauren has become an accomplished Junior Handler, competing successfully in AKC, CPE, and NADD events.

When Karen decided to whelp Demi’s and Arte’s litters at home in Lake Bluff, Lauren knew she wanted to be part of the experience in a meaningful way. She has since formally joined the TriSetters family as a TriSetters Puppy Raiser, playing a vital role in the earliest stages of each litter’s development.

Lauren is responsible for early puppy development and performs both ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction). She spends time with every puppy daily throughout their first eight weeks, supporting socialization and thoughtfully introducing them to new sights, sounds, surfaces, environments, and experiences. In addition, Lauren helps each puppy get a head start on potty training, leash training, and basic obedience, building a foundation for confident, well-rounded dogs ready to thrive in both companion and sporting homes.

Lauren brings a special kind of heart to TriSetters—built on dedication, patience, and the bond that begins forming from a puppy’s very first days.

 At the center of TriSetters is the reason it all began: the dogs.

Our Setters are far more than just thier pedigrees—they are beloved family members, trusted teammates, and constant companions. They share our home, our routines & everyday life, and they influence the way we raise every litter from the moment each puppy is born. We believe a truly great dog isn’t only athletic and capable—it’s also deeply connected to its people: confident, loving, and eager to be part of the family.
