our story ...

Located in Lake Bluff, Illinois,   TriSetters is owned and operated by Karen Malinowski, with guidance from her mentor, Lynette VandeVenter, DVM of First Harmony Farms.

We truly love the field-bred English Setter—their intelligence, athleticism, and especially their kind, people-focused nature—and our goal is to preserve and share those qualities in every litter we raise.

At TriSetters, breeding decisions are made with care and intention. We aim to produce dogs that have the natural ability and soundness to hunt, while also being the kind of dog you enjoy living with every day. These are dogs that can spend the day in the field and then come home and settle right in with their people.

Each breeding is thoughtfully planned with a strong focus on health, temperament, and structure—dogs that move well, stay durable, and hold up over time. All breeding dogs are health tested according to recommended guidelines for the breed.

Our dogs love to work, whether that’s hunting or participating in activities like agility, dock diving, lure coursing, obedience, or rally. Just as important to us, though, is that they are steady, affectionate, and easy to live with.

Puppies are raised in a hands-on, home environment with early socialization and plenty of positive experiences—new places, sounds, surfaces, and people—to help them grow into confident, adaptable dogs.

TriSetters is supported by a close-knit team, including Karen’s husband, Marcin,  and Lauren, a dedicated Junior Handler and Puppy Raiser who has been part of the program since childhood and plays an active role in early puppy development.
