In the summer of 2000, following the loss of her beloved 15-year-old spaniel/setter mix, Karen Malinowski began searching for a new companion. After months of research, she discovered the remarkable English Setter — a breed admired for its versatility, intelligence, and affectionate nature.
Through her search, Karen was introduced to the world of “field” English Setters — smaller, athletic Setters celebrated for their exceptional personalities and love of sport. Under the mentorship of Lynette VandeVenter of First Harmony Farms in Tiskilwa, Illinois, Karen found her perfect match: a beautiful, tri-colored, 8-week-old puppy named FHF Miss Demeanor, lovingly known as “Demi.”
Demi quickly became more than a cherished companion — she became the foundation of what would grow into TriSetters. At two years old, under the continued guidance of First Harmony Farms, Demi was bred with Murphy’s Mohawk Ryder, producing five outstanding puppies. Three found homes with avid hunters, while two went on to excel in various canine sports. Each one embodied the hallmark traits of the “field” English Setter — intelligence, drive, and a joyful spirit.
After Demi’s first litter, the initial co-ownership agreement with First Harmony Farms concluded. Yet Karen and Lynette’s shared passion for preserving and improving this exceptional line led to the creation of TriSetters LLC. Together, they committed to continuing Demi’s lineage — carefully breeding for health, performance, and temperament to produce versatile Setters capable of shining both in the home and in the field.
Today, TriSetters remains devoted to maintaining a diverse, healthy bloodline, pairing our girls with studs of proven performance and strong, fully health-tested pedigrees.
Our mission is to see “field” English Setters once again take center stage — not only as beloved family companions but also as accomplished competitors in AKC, FDSB/UKC, and NAVDHA hunt and field trials, as well as a wide range of other canine sports including agility, dock diving, obedience, rally, scent work, Fast CAT, and disc.
